Sundays with Joy / Brown Butter Blueberry Muffins

Today on Sundays with Joy our chosen recipe was Brown Butter Blueberry Muffins. Such a treat to have for breakfast! I am actually up in northern Wisconsin this weekend and got the TREAT of getting to bake with my Auntie ( also a major foodie). It’s so awesome to be able to throw ideas back and forth with someone just as passionate and ( much more) knowledgeable about food and presentation as I.

Once the butter was browned, the batter came together beautifully, and was super easy to portion out.The brown butter gave them a warm a nutty flavor. The crumb was moist and perfect with it’s complementing streusel topping. However, we did need to add an additional 5 minutes to the baking time…..

Also, I made some adjustments, adding an additional half teaspoon of vanilla to the one teaspoon listed. The recipe called for 2 cups blueberries. I used one cup fresh blueberries and 1 cup frozen cranberries infused with natural blueberry concentrate -( Aunties are the best!).
I must say this is the best blueberry muffin recipe I have tasted. Yummy :).

Upon further discussion over taste testing “scientific research”. We decided next time we would try experimenting by adding all blueberry infused cranberries and 1/2 a teaspoon of a almond extract to the batter. For the streusel we would sub in 1/2 almond flour and 1/2 all purpose flour.

Overall such an awesome experience today 🙂
